Project Overview

Naxan Renovations designs and installs low-maintenance pebble pathways that turn narrow, overgrown side yards into clean, functional, and attractive garden walkways. This project focused on transforming unused side-yard space — previously bare dirt, patchy grass, and overgrown garden beds — into a durable stepping-stone path set within a decorative river pebble bed.

Each pathway was carefully designed to work around existing site features, including outdoor AC units and garden beds, while improving drainage, reducing weed growth, and creating a tidy, defined walking route along the side of the home. In one property, the pebble path design was extended into the backyard, tying seamlessly into a composite deck area for a fully connected outdoor living space.

The result is a set of durable, visually appealing garden pathways that require little to no ongoing maintenance, while significantly improving the look, usability, and drainage of previously neglected outdoor areas.

Key Features

Each feature of this project is planned to make outdoor pathways more functional, low-maintenance, and visually consistent — from garden bed edging to the final pebble and paver finish.

Stepping Stone Paver Path

Solid concrete pavers laid in a clean, evenly spaced line create a stable, defined walking path through the garden or side yard.

Decorative River Pebble Bed

A bed of river pebbles surrounds the stepping stones, improving drainage, suppressing weed growth, and giving the pathway a clean, low-maintenance finish.

Integrated Garden & Utility Areas

Timber-edged garden beds and existing outdoor equipment, like AC units, are neatly incorporated into the pathway design rather than left as awkward, unfinished space.

Project Transformation

Before

Uneven dirt and grass paths, overgrown garden beds along the fence line, and AC units or storage items placed directly on bare ground.

After

A clean, defined pathway of concrete stepping stones set within a decorative pebble bed — low-maintenance, well-drained, and neatly finished, with one project extending seamlessly into a composite deck backyard space.

Transformation Highlights

Development Process

Site Clearing & Ground Preparation

Overgrown grass, weeds, and uneven ground are cleared, and the site is leveled and prepared around existing garden beds and equipment.

01

Edging, Paver Laying & Pebble Fill

Timber or edge restraints define the path boundary, concrete stepping-stone pavers are precisely laid, and decorative river pebbles fill the surrounding bed.

02

Garden Tidy-Up & Final Finish

Garden beds are tidied and replanted where needed, and the site is cleaned up to leave a finished, ready-to-use pathway.

Project Problems & Solutions

Project Challenges

Overgrown, Unusable Side Yards

Bare dirt, weeds, and patchy grass create a messy, impractical space that’s uncomfortable to walk through and hard to maintain.

Poor Drainage & Weed Growth

Untreated garden soil paths are prone to pooling water, erosion, and constant weed regrowth without a proper surface treatment.

Awkward Equipment & Garden Placement

Outdoor AC units, storage bins, and garden beds are often left on bare, unfinished ground, making the space look cluttered and unplanned.

Our Solutions

Defined Stepping Stone Pathway

A clear, evenly spaced paver path gives the side yard a defined, comfortable walking route that’s easy to maintain long-term.

Pebble Bed Ground Cover

A layer of decorative river pebbles improves drainage and significantly reduces weed growth, keeping the pathway clean with minimal upkeep.

Thoughtful Site Integration

Careful path and pebble bed design works around existing equipment and garden beds, creating a clean, cohesive look across the whole side yard.

FAQs

A stepping-stone pathway set in river pebbles is one of the most low-maintenance options — it improves drainage, suppresses weeds, and requires no mowing or edging.

A weed barrier membrane is typically laid beneath the pebbles before installation, significantly reducing weed growth over time.

Costs vary depending on the length of the path, paver type, and pebble volume required. A free on-site quote gives the most accurate pricing.
